About me

Hey! my name is Juancarlos Alguera. As a senior Computer Science major at Florida State University, I am passionate about discovering ways to apply technology to solve complex problems. My academic journey has equipped me with a strong foundation in many programming languages including: C/#/++, Python, Java, JavaScriptL, HTML, CSS, and SQL. I've had opportunities to familiarize myself with group collaboration settings and software development practices. I have honed my software development skills through challenging coursework and hands-on projects, focusing on areas such as Full-Stack development, Operating Systems, Databases, and Data Stuctures and Algorithms.

Outside of classes I love to spend my time on religion and hobbies such as music and fitness. As a Christian, I find dedicating time towards deepening my beliefs to be a mentally soothing practice. Listening to music is also something I enjoy dedicating time towards, and my interest in music has led me to dedicate myself to practice playing the Guitar, which sometimes seems harder to learn than C. I find it important to keep a healthy and active body and because of that I love to workout. I workout with friends which is a super fun pass-time, and it is satisfying to see myself grow strong overtime. One other fitness related activity that I love is boxing. I've always has an interest in the sport since my childhood, but i've only recently taken it up as hobby. Boxing is not only a fun activity for me, but I feel as if it has helped with strengthening my self-discipline, mental fortitide, and self-confidence.

Stepping away from those non-major related activities, I also dedicate time towards tinkering on personal projects. Most of my personal projects resemble or expand upon topics I have learned throughout my academic journey. I like to apply what I learn outside of my classes so that I can keep my skillsets sharpened. I am eager to apply my knowledge and skills in a professional setting, contributing to innovative projects while continuing to grow as a software developer. As I approach graduation, I am seeking opportunities that will challenge me and allow me to make meaningful contributions in the field of computer science.
